How Lift works
Frequently asked questions — last updated 28 April 2026
What is Lift?
Lift is a mobile marketplace that connects riders with drivers and, where available, transport operators running scheduled inter-city style trips. We provide the app, payments plumbing (wallet and escrow), and tools for verification, disputes, and safety workflows.
How do I sign up?
Download the app for iOS or Android, enter your mobile number, and verify with a one-time code (OTP) sent by SMS. You can use Lift as a rider; becoming a driver requires additional KYC steps.
How does payment work?
Riders typically top up an in-app wallet using our payment partner. When you book, the amount due can be held in escrow until the trip is completed according to the rules shown in the app for that trip type. What you see at checkout is the total charged for the booking (including any service fee shown there for that trip). After settlement, the transport provider (private driver or operator payout account) receives amounts according to the product rules and our Terms.
What happens when I arrive?
The app may let you confirm arrival for some trip types. Depending on the trip and product settings, an automatic release timer may apply. Rules can differ between private cost-share trips and operator public-line trips — always follow the in-app prompts for your booking. If something goes wrong, you may be able to open a dispute for that booking so support can review.
What are public-line operator trips?
Some trips are operated by a registered transport company with a fixed route and schedule. Those trips may use per-seat inventory, a passenger manifest for safety, and optional desk (cash) sales where the product allows. You may be asked to consent to manifest fields before booking.
How does Lift make money?
Lift charges service fees that can vary by trip type. For example, on some private cost-share trips a percentage may be applied on settlement from amounts due to the driver; on some operator public-line trips a rider-facing service fee may be included in the total you pay at booking. The structure, rate, and presentation are shown in the app and may change — see in-app disclosures and our Terms.
Is Lift a transport company?
Lift provides software and payment facilitation. Carriage is performed by drivers and operators using the platform. Always check trip details, meeting points, and vehicle information in the app.
Why might a rider be asked to complete extra verification?
For safety and fraud prevention, Lift may require additional verification for some rider accounts before allowing new private-driver bookings. This can happen after risk signals such as repeated abuse reports or investigation outcomes. If prompted, follow the in-app steps or contact support.
Who is responsible for safety on trips?
Lift applies platform safety controls (verification, monitoring, support, and dispute handling), but drivers and riders are responsible for their own conduct and decisions during trips. Verification reduces risk but cannot guarantee a risk-free experience.
Can Lift support school breaks and NYSC camp exit travel?
Yes. Lift can support high-demand travel windows where students or corps members need inter-city rides around the same period. Riders can book seats ahead of time, see route/departure options earlier, and board from agreed pickup points while using participating transport operators. Any pilot is coordinated with relevant campus/camp stakeholders and must follow institutional guidelines.
Who do I contact for help?
Use in-app help from the Lift app where available. You can also email ahmed@vendplug.com.ng or call +234 803 886 1283 (operator: VendPlug). For privacy matters, see our Privacy Policy. Official site: getlift.ng.
Product behaviour can change between app versions. In case of conflict, the in-app experience and Terms prevail at the time of your booking.
